Holiday treat thoughts.

I would really like to thank everyone who has been commenting, following, and liking my blog. It means the world to me! Also, Darby’s give away is over tonight, so if you’ve not yet entered-do so!

I’ve been trying to work out what kind of Christmas treats to try to make this holiday. My father used to make German stollen (called Christstollen at Christmas time) and distribute loaves to our neighbors. My grandmother used to make mounds of German Christmas cookies for us and her neighbors. I want to try making both of these at some point, but I’m not sure I’m up for it this year.

I think I will try my hand at cinnamon buns. I saw a delicious-looking recipe on The Pioneer Woman’s site.

What tasty Christmas traditions did you grow up with? Do you make treats for your neighbors for the holidays?

Darby’s Nature’s Logic dog food giveaway!

You know how some dogs can eat any type of cheap dog food in the world and snarf it down like it’s going to disappear? Well, that’s not Darby. He’s pretty particular about his kibble, and so am I. When he eats cheap, overly processed dog food, I can tell. He will start scratching at his ears, his coat isn’t as shiny, he is smellier. Luckily Nature’s Logic prevents him from becoming a pariah. Darby loves Nature’s Logic. I have photographic proof:

Clearly, he is not a polite young dog when it comes to Nature’s Logic.

A few introductions, a tentative plan of action.

Why hello there. Thank you for finding my blog. Or being forced to come here under duress-either way works for me! What is the purpose of this blog, you ask? What is it all about? Carol, are you really such a Klutz?! The idea for starting this blog came to me one afternoon while I was looking at pans. Oh yeah, you’d be surprised how many amazing ideas come about while looking at pans! Sauce pans, frying pans, skillets…I quickly realized that I had no idea what type of pan should be used for cooking what. After this embarrassing realization, I realized some more embarrassing things-I pretty much knew nothing about kitchenware, or cooking. I cook, obviously, but nothing that tastes very good, and a lot of it is trial and error.

And that’s where this blog, and you, come in! You’ll be joining me on my journey to getting a better understanding of kitchen basics, making some mistakes, reviewing some cool products, and maybe a give away or two! And I’m not alone. I wouldn’t do that to you. Joining me is Jennifer of Cooking to Die For (seriously you need to go and try some of her recipes-do it!). She is much more “seasoned” at this cooking junk than I am, so she will be lending her experience whenever possible. My miniature schnauzer, Darby, will also join us, because he can’t be excluded from anything. Nothing. He even sits in the bathtub while I’m in the bathroom. That dog needs to learn boundaries.
